My work focuses on understanding how AI systems are actually used in practice, where assumptions and uncertainty sit, and what changes are needed to reduce risk without slowing teams down. The approach is analytical and context-specific, drawing on current research as well as practical reasoning about how systems behave once deployed.
AI Use & Risk Reviews
A structured review of how AI is being used within an organisation or product, focusing on assumptions, uncertainty, user expectations, and potential risk. This includes analysing how AI outputs are generated and presented, how they may be interpreted by users, and where safeguards or clearer boundaries may be needed. The outcome should be a concise set of observations and prioritised recommendations.
Governance & Documentation Support
Support in developing clear, proportionate documentation around AI use, including internal guidelines, decision boundaries, and descriptions of system behaviour and limitations. The focus should be on practical documentation that teams can actually use, helping organisations articulate responsibility and manage expectations without overengineering.
Advisory on AI Risk and Responsible Design
Focused advisory engagements for founders and teams who want to think through questions around AI risk, trust, and responsible design in their specific context. This work should be exploratory and analytical rather than prescriptive, supporting clearer decision-making before issues become embedded in systems or products.
I take on a limited number of engagements at a time to ensure each project receives focused attention. Work typically begins with an initial conversation to understand the specific context, concerns, and stage of AI use. Engagements are short and clearly scoped, and may involve analysis, written feedback, or advisory discussions depending on the needs of the organisation.
